The 2020 Ford Fusion was designed to be a fuel-efficient model in the large 2020 lineup of Ford vehicles. With a total of five different engine layouts available for 2020, the Fusion balances fuel-efficiency and power-delivery well. All three of the gasoline-powered engines utilize a six-speed automatic transmission to deliver power smoothly to the wheels. The two hybrid engine platforms utilize electronically-controlled continuously variable transmissions (eCVT) to transfer their power.
Performance Capabilities The 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter engine are capable of achieving a 27 mile per gallon and 25 miles per gallon fuel economy respectively. Like the 2.0-liter engine, the larger 2.5-liter inline-four engine also has a maximum combined fuel economy of 25 miles per gallon. The combined fuel economy of the 2.0-liter inline-four hybrid engine is increased to 42 miles per gallon. This figure is further increased to a combined 103 MPGe in the Fusion plug-in hybrid model.
