Which Ford Models Get the Best Gas Mileage?
With fuel costs on the rise, Vermont Ford shoppers have been asking us this question more frequently, and with good reason. In addition to price and performance, fuel economy is at the forefront of many purchase decisions when considering a new Ford model. And the Ford Motor Company is answering the call with a number of options from brand new models like the Mustang Mach-E and the Maverick pickup truck, to new hybrid versions of existing models like the Escape, Explorer and F-150, to economical gas-powered vehicles like the EcoSport and Bronco Sport. Choosing one of these models can have a significant impact on your fuel cost savings each year and over the course of its lifespan. Take a deep dive into researching your next vehicle's fuel efficiency and make your automotive budget work smarter, not harder!
The Ford Professionals at Formula Ford have compiled a list of the Top 10 2022 Fords with the Best Combined Gas Mileage. This number represents the number of miles that you can expect your Ford vehicle to travel on one gallon of gas if you drive both in the city and on the highway. City mileage is typically lower due to frequent starting and stopping, acceleration and deceleration, and overall low speed of travel, all of which have a negative effect on your vehicle's fuel efficiency. However, hybrid vehicles equipped with both gas and electric engines have a higher City MPG because their electric motor is utilized primarily in city driving conditions. Highway mileage on the other hand, is typically higher because even though you're going faster, the ratio of your tranmission's high gear enables your car's wheels to turn faster than your motor, allowing you to cover more ground with every revolution of your engine. If you split your driving equally between city and highway driving, the Combined MPG is a good mileage estimate to base your purchase decision upon. However, if your daily commute tends more towards one or the other, you may want to pay more attention to those specific MPG ratings as that is what your mileage will more closely resemble.
